I was tempted to call this section Introduction but it is, in fact, the back-story that has its origins in early thoughts about amplifiers, building sub-circuits and control electronics, more thinking about
amplification classes and MOSFETs, other FETs and third-party pallet amplifiers.
Along the way there has been the Mitsubishi 40W amplifier module - a story in itself! - and a wonderful range of learning.

Control board in close up
To the left, the piezo alarm and top, centre is the IRF510 that switches the cooling fan
The IRF510 is an ironic choice:
"I used to use an IRF510 as the PA!"

The first prototype on the work bench
I started with the control circuitry and that has remained comfortingly similar, version to version
Initial thoughts had been to keep this on the side until the project is completed.
But a blog approach may be fun and, I hope, might generate some feedback along the way!
