I was tempted to call this section Introduction but it is, in fact, the back-story that has its origins in early thoughts about amplifiers, building sub-circuits and control electronics, more thinking about amplification classes and MOSFETs, other FETs and third-party pallet amplifiers.
Along the way there has been the Mitsubishi 40W amplifier module - a story in itself! - and a wonderful range of learning.

To the left, the piezo alarm and top, centre is the IRF510 that switches the cooling fan
The IRF510 is an ironic choice:
"I used to use an IRF510 as the PA!"
The first prototype on the work bench
I started with the control circuitry and that has remained comfortingly similar, version to version
Initial thoughts had been to keep this on the side until the project is completed.
But a blog approach may be fun and, I hope, might generate some feedback along the way!
