HAM RADIO CLUBS
It is true that clubs are the life-blood of amateur radio. Local clubs provide an opportunity for new-comers to meet members with skills and experience to share. National clubs glue the local networks together and provide nationwide representation. Many of the special interest groups are national and international so, even when it comes to to really niche interest topics, there's always enough enthusiastic members to make the club viable.
